to provide for the taxation of Light Hydrocarbon Oils, which passed its second and third reading on the 26th of June. In addition I propose that postage rates should be increased and will communicate

further on this point when the details are decided.

I also propose later in the year to recommend the

imposition of an Amusement Tax. It is anticipated

that these proposals will add to the revenue a total sum of $1,500,000 in a full year, from which 20% will

be deducted for Military contribution.

6. I may add that the increase in the tobacco duties and the new petrol tax were unanimously approved by the Legislative Council without any

comment by the Unofficial Members. The Executive

Council has unanimously agreed to the proposed

increase in postage rates and the suggested

3 Amusement Tax.
